Taylor Martin, Robert Benton and Thomas Oliver will join her for the writers in-the-round showcase that is free to the public and begins at 6.
A favorite of local fans, Lauren is a Savannah-based singer/songwriter who has been gaining recognition across the country for her soulful songs, unique voice and strong live performances.
Her CD “Butterfly,” has been played on more than 100 radio stations in eight countries and reached #8 on the Georgia Roots Artist Radio Airplay Chart. While her new CD hasn’t been released, she will be playing songs from it.
A couple of those songs were co-written by Taylor Martin, who makes his SSS debut.
A transplant to Savannah, Taylor likes to keep it simple. “You can have all the fanciest guitars, riffs, and artists you want, but if you don’t have a good song, you don’t have a good song.”
He claims Willie Nelson, Guy Clark and John Hartford as major influences.
Robert Benton, a native of Savannah, also is making a return engagement with SSS. Those who have heard Robert always remember his strong vocals and mesmerizing performance. He is currently working with a drummer, bass player and developing originals, as they play gigs as the Benton Hill band.
Thomas Oliver moved to Tybee four years ago from Atlanta, where received several songwriting honors from the Georgia Music Industry Association.
Since then he has played most of the music venues on Tybee and many around Savannah.
Thomas is an organizing member of the Savannah Songwriters’ Series, which showcases original music twice a month – the second Sunday at Doc’s Bar on Tybee and the fourth Sunday at Johnny Harris restaurant in Savannah.
Local songwriters wishing to perform can send a query along with a link to their music to firstname.lastname@example.org.
