The July 3 edition of the Savannah Songwriters Series will showcase two songwriters making their SSS debut. Sean McNally and A.M. Rodriguez will be joined by Gary Swindell and Savannah’s favorite daughter, Kris Youmans.

Sean McNally has been playing music since the age of 10. Playing in a band in his mid twenties, he found himself at the Alexandria Highland Games and for the first time heard Celtic folk tunes mixed with rock rhythms and was hooked. He played in a number of bands before taking a 10-year break.

A major life change brought him and his wife and five children to Tybee Island 4 ½ years ago and with the vibrant Savannah music scene surrounding him, the bug bit again. He decided to try his hand at a new instrument and dusted off the mandolin given to him by his wife’s grandfather nearly a quarter of a century earlier. After a year of playing solo gigs and hosting two open mic nights on Tybee, he decided to form a band that has become In For A Penny.

This is Sean’s first SSS showcase.

A.M. Rodriguez is a Savannah based singer-songwriter whose work mines American folk, country and blues music traditions, particularly from Texas and the Deep South.
